The Garden of Gethsemane depicts the drama of one of the most difficult scenes in the New Testament. Just before Jesus’ arrest, He appears in agony, kneeling in prayer, resigning Himself to accept God’s wrath on our behalf. The Luke 22account of this drama makes mention of “an angel from heaven” sent to encourage and strengthen Jesus, and if you look carefully, you will notice the artists’ creative expression of this detail.
